Portraiture with Mercy Clark

Here's Mercy Clark in her latest portraiture session.

Inspired by the Victoria Secret special I made some cutout dolls and hearts for Mercy to play with.  Check out the video for the full shoot.  http://animoto.com/play/kFCzWCjvMOP14nzj01qAgw#

Mercy embodies life, sweetness and beauty.  She's always a treat to have because she brings such energy to each and every shoot.  She shifts from loveliness to mischievousness in a blink of an eye.   This ability to render up such a variety of emotions and expressions are a photographer's dream.  We are used to working with new models but it's always a special treat to just let someone loose!  And that we did!

Mercy you are and have always been a pure pleasure to shoot, I look forward to another year with lots of shoots featuring you and your amazing self.

This shoot was conducted because Santa brought a new portraiture lens.  The 85mm f/1.8 is indeed all that they say it is.  It's a beautiful portrait lens, and is going to get LOTS of use!

And I just couldn't resist treating myself to a custom made phone case made with Pretty Muse on it.  Too cute huh?

The next shoot on the schedule is with an Asian Princess motif.  We are revisiting this look because the first one was so mesmerizing!

The Very Pretty Muses of 2012

I just released the video 'The Very Pretty Muses of 2012' which includes images from all (most) of the girls we photographed this year.  It's a way of saying thank you and to remind them how much we enjoyed working with each and everyone of them.

Happy Holidays!

Donna & The Red Dress

Most women I know love glamour whether they live a glamourous life or not.  We are attracted to it. We want to know what it feels like.  Its our fascination with glamour that makes us pick up magazines and follow stars because their glamourous life intrigues us.

Catch her video below!!!

This is the very thing that our photoshoots gives to our muses, a powerful and glamourous feeling.
And Donna was no exception.  She radiated like I've never seen her radiate before.  She glowed.  I believe part of the reason women glow is because of an inner feeling and she knew that during this shoot she'd feel like a million bucks before she even woke up that morning.  And sure enough when she showed up she sparkled radiance.  (Is that even possible to sparkle radiance?)  Well she did.

The backdrop is always important on a shoot and finding the right location can be hard but this spot fits her look perfectly.  It's a little place near Memorial Park on Ocean Blvd.  Lucky for us the owners didn't mind us shooting there.

This isn't the first time that during a shoot we stumbled upon a little girl who found our shoot and saw magic.  Donna was standing off of the path and a little girl came running "Mommy, a real princess!"  "Mommy Mommy Mommy!"  Donna and I looked at each other because we both did the same thing during the mermaid shoot and we melted.  Yes, I believe it starts very young.  Young girls have this innate sense of beauty and loveliness; we want it.  We crave it.  From a small child we have this need.  And how fitting to be the real live actuality of that for this little girl.  Donna, just turned and waved, to which the little girl fell on the ground and insisted on watching us.  So incredibly cute!

The dress is made in two parts, the corset on top with boning and the skirt.  The skirt section has more yardage than you'd think, around 200 yards of tulle, plus a wire underskirt.  So it's a lot of dress, but the reaction to the dress has served as a great reminder of what Pretty Muse is all about, beauty and femininity.  This dress delivers that in spades.  I wonder who will wear it next.

Sneak Peek of Donna & The Red Dress

The original Red Dress (with model Karissa Ferguson) shoot really rang a chord of loving angst with many of you and Donna was no exception.  She pined to do a shoot in the dress and lo and behold we shot her in the dress this afternoon.  And wow!

I think the dress brings out the beauty goddess in everyone who puts it on because this woman had one hell of a good shoot in it!

Full shoot and video coming up.  And following that I'm releasing the annual Pretty Muses Video, so stay tuned!

Parisa

Meet Parisa.  The first thing you notice is her hair, its simply glorious.   She drove up to the shoot location and slipped into the spot next to us in a cute little convertible that matched her personality.   I mean that in the cutest way possible.  She looked fantastic.

Our first shoot together was to play with an ethereal theme in the park and then have her change looks into a casual everyday look.  If the wind hadn't been a blusterous 15 - 20 mph we'd of had a great time shooting, but add that wind and her mass of hair and you've got trouble.  In a way it was a like a test, to see how she could handle working with something so frustrating and not let it show on her face.  But she did it.  She managed to wrestle her hair in place and hit a pose, wrestle another round with her hair and hit another pose.  This all looks fairly mundane to the average person, but its no easy feat.  In truth I probably should have rescheduled the shoot, which would have been fair to her, but I didn't.  She's a good sport.  :)

Indian Riverside Park is no stranger to photographers.  In fact between the dogs and us you'd think the park was made excessively for our use.  And for photographers it offers all kinds of landscape to fit any mood you are going for.  So went for a foggy forest here.

Parisa has the kind of look every photographer wants from a model.  It's no surprise that she's been 'discovered' by other local photographers and snatched up for a shoot.  She has a beauty that is natural and illusive yet friendly and almost attainable.  Her eyes will shift from greenish to amber then brown, her hair will frame her face in so many looks its impossible to capture them all.  We look forward to our next shoot with her, soon, I hope!

Thank you Parissa we loved working with you!!  For other photographers interested in booking her please see the link below to her Model Mayhem account.
