Do you remember an earlier post where we dragged a bed to the lake and took pictures for a birthday present?   We did a blog post and video entitled A Wife's Gift to go with it.  Well, there's more and we decided we needed to share just a wee bit more.  So, here for your viewing pleasure is Mrs. Donna Devlin in another episode of her husband's private collection!

What goes into a shoot?

Planning. Pondering, dwelling, daydreaming and oh I love floating around the pool staring at the sky planning my next shoot.

I also wonder what excites those who read our blog.  Tell me what you'd like to see Pretty Muse do and we'd love to consider it!!!!

Right now, I'm drawing and sewing, playing with makeup trying to come up with a retro look. I've made a couple new pieces we'll see in our next shoot.  Details are pending but we are planning on shooting downtown!  That will be very different than our normal shoot.  So if you do see us, blow a kiss or toot the horn.

We are such a different group of people, I look at other photographers wondering if there is ANYBODY doing what we are, and I can't find any.  Probably because it's an insane amount of work.  But we love it so much, we're like artists on crack photography.

Karissa Models - Part 2

Here is part 2 of our photo shoot with Karissa Ferguson.  Be sure to see the video AND the Before & After picture below!

There are a couple things that I always like getting on every shoot.  The hair flip is definitely one of them.  Let's see, long eyelashes (of course we wear false eyelashes most of the time).  Yes, down cast eyes are a fav, sun flares when we're outside and lately jumping shots are probably in every shoot. So this is Karissa's hair toss.

Here it is, you've been asking for these and I'm making good on my promise. The Before and After.  It takes some guts to do before shots, but they are so powerful and help stress the importance of a trained hair and makeup artist on each shoot.  Most women want to experience a makeover and photo shoot.  

On this shoot Pretty Muse invited new HMUA, Lance Stevens to join us.  This was a big job, the hair alone was a big assignment especially since it would involve changing the hair throughout the shoot, from half up to more up to completely down.  All the while keep BIG, very BIG hair.  Need I say it had to be sexy big too?  Well he did it.  And he did the makeup too.  This was a VERY big first assignment, great job Lance!

We were also joined by newcomer Jordan Rupp who came to assist.  He was a nice addition to the team, helped with hair, makeup and styling.

Everybody did a great job on this shoot, can't wait for our next!

Re-Post Karissa Models - Part 1

Mysteriously this post just poofed, I'm sure it was the jealous model gods that stole it.  Disappeared. Gone. Not a trace. But, I believe it said something like this.

Once upon a time there was a little girl who dreamed she would grow up to be a model.  She wished and wished.  Dreamed and dreamed.  And sure to form, you become what you think. And she did. Karissa Ferguson is indeed a model.

You can rawr all you like, this picture is amazing.  There isn't a girl I know who wouldn't love to have such a picture of themselves.

For this shoot we used key words; sultry, uber feminine, big BIG hair, cat eyes.  We had elements of vixens like Brigette Bardot, Anna Nicole Smith and Adele whose on this month's Vogue cover and an 80's overall look.

I'm proud to say I made that pink little swing jacket with the big button on it.  And, just to rub it in, I didn't have a pattern. Yeah.  It was my miracle piece.  Lord knows how many items I've carefully constructed following every pattern notation and end up with a disaster.  I have a virtual bone yard of abandoned pieces.

Hmmmm, I wonder if Etsy has a section for people's failed attempts? You never know, one man's garbage is another man's....pantaloons?  Anyways, I end up making many pieces for our shoots because 'shooting clothes' are different beasts.  And, clever woman that I am (while I'm bragging on myself I might as well go on) I make most pieces so they can fit any girl from a size 4 to an 18.  How's that for creative?
